KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Four games, four MAC honors for the Western Michigan Broncos.

Junior defensive back Ronald Zamort was named MAC West Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for his performance in the Broncos’ 35-17 loss to Virginia Tech on Saturday.

The Delray Beach, Florida native made three tackles, broke up one pass, and grabbed his second interception of the season – returning it 39 yards to set up WMU’s first touchdown of the day.

Zamort now has eight pass break-ups in 2014 – best in the MAC and third in the nation.

Zamort joins defensive lineman Cleveland Smith and running back Jarvion Franklin as Broncos who have won weekly honors from the MAC this season. Franklin has won POTW twice, meaning WMU has had a conference player of the week in every game this season.

Western Michigan (2-2, 0-0) opens MAC play this Saturday at Waldo Stadium against Toledo (3-2, 2-0) at 7:00 p.m.
