WEST MICHIGAN – In February 2014, FOX 17 News launched a special series that has the potential of impacting every person in West Michigan.

For six months, FOX 17 collaborated with staff of community organizations – Merpi Media, Hospice of Michigan, Aquinas College, Catholic Information Center – to discuss ways to best produce a television series that will help inspire and teach families how to have ‘The Talk,’ a conversation about planning end-of-life decisions.  The subject is crucial because often times the conversation is not had in time.

Throughout the month of February, we introduced you to three West Michigan families as our cameras took you inside their lives to document their process and experience of having ‘The Talk’ with their loved ones.  Each week, viewers became even more equipped with the knowledge and confidence to begin the process on their own.

The stories aired weekly and culminated with a 30-minute town hall meeting hosted by FOX 17 news anchor Michele DeSelms. She and a studio audience questioned a panel of community experts and religious leaders.
