Sun returns Wednesday, Heat builds this weekend

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Thanks to clouds and rain, temperatures were unusually cold across West Michigan on Tuesday. The map shows that highs were mostly in the 60s. Normal highs are near 80 degrees this time of year, and record highs are just shy of 100.

Sunny skies will boost temperatures back into the upper 70s Wednesday and the mid 70s on Thursday. However, starting Friday and continuing into next week, temperatures will rise into the 80s.

There is a chance that we could hit 90 degrees next week as well. We have yet to hit 90 in Grand Rapids this summer. Here’s how that compares to the past few years through August 12:
