KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A 23-year-old Kalamazoo man was taken into custody after he allegedly reached for a gun during an intense confrontation with police.
The incident unfolded on August 12 around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Cameron Street and Lay Boulevard after police say they responded to a report of a man brandishing a gun.
After locating the man, officials said he reached for a handgun in his waistband and started fighting with officers.
The suspect was eventually taken into custody and is behind bars on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and resisting/obstructing police as well as several other warrants. He will be identified pending arraignment.
