LOWELL TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Traffic will be slowed on I-96 at the bridge project at M-50 over the weekend.
The eastbound and westbound lanes will be completely closed beginning Friday, August 1, at 9 p.m. to allow for some bridge demolition. All traffic will be narrowed to one lane approaching M-50/Alden Nash Avenue and routed onto the exit and on ramps. Right turns onto Alden Nash Avenue will be allowed.
M-50/Alden Nash Avenue will be closed over I-96.
The demolition should be finished and all lanes reopened on I-96 by Monday, August 4, at 5 a.m.
After the weekend, traffic on M-50 will be carried over I-96 on the new bridge, which has yet to be slid into its permanent position. Using an unusual bridge slide process, the new bridge will be slid into permanent placement in early October.
