KALAMAZOO, Mich. (July 20, 2014)– Kalamazoo Public Safety is investigating a car crash that victim’s say was caused by gunshots.
According to police, they responded to a crash and possible power outage on the 600 block of Florence Street at around 4 a.m. When they arrived on the scene, they found a car crashed into a power pole at the intersection of Florence and Woodbury.
The power pole had been knocked down, cutting power to the surrounding neighborhood.
The driver of the car said he was being shot at, and was trying to flee the scene, but crashed. The driver and four passengers were not injured. Several bullet holes were found in the car, along with two houses near the crash. Police also found several spent bullet casings around the scene.
The occupants of the car said the shooter(s) was on foot, and did not have a description of them. The incident is still under investigation.
