BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A 25-year-old man is facing first-degree child abuse charges after police say he intentionally injured a 7-week-old infant.
According to a release, police were called to a Douglas Street residence at about 3:22 a.m. June 25. The infant suffered serious head trauma, and initially police believed it was an accident.
After further investigation, police said they determined that the caretaker intentionally inflicted the injuries. The child remains in intensive care in Kalamazoo.
The suspect has not yet been identified.
