Galesburg-Augusta Student Killed by Amtrak Train

GALESBURG, Mich. (June 30, 2014) — Friends are identifying the Kalamazoo County teenager who was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Monday.

The incident happened just before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Battle Creek Street and Burgess Drive.  According to Galesburg Police, a 16-year-old male was walking his bike across the tracks when he was hit by the train.  The victim was killed in the accident.

The teen is being identified as Tyler Beischl, a student at Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools.

Officers are calling it an unfortunate accident at this time, but the incident remains under investigation.
