Gull Lake Baseball Team Falls To Mt. Pleasant In Semifinals

EAST LANSING, Mich (June 12, 2014) — Gull Lake avoided being shutout when Drew Blakely was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th, but the Blue Devils lost to Mt. Pleasant 7-1 in a division 2 state semifinal at Michigan State University’s Kobs Field Thursday afternoon.

Mt. Pleasant (31-8) struck for 2 in the top of the 1st on a 2-run double by Dean Marias, the Oilers added 2 in the 3rd, 2 in the 5th and 1 in the 7th.

Gull Lake (30-10) starting pitcher Walter Graf went the distance on the hill, allowing 12 hits, 7 earned runs, walked 2 and struck out 2.

Blakely, Nick Miller, Jardon Burton, Austyn Knapper and Eric Hyde all had hits for the Blue Devils.

Mt.Peasant advances to the championship game Saturday against Richmond.
