IONIA COUNTY, Mich. (June 10, 2014) –Michael Elliot was charged Tuesday with charges related to his February escape from the Ionia Correctional Facility.
Elliot, 41, is charged with kidnapping, carjacking and escape from prison.
He is accused of abducting Cheryl Vanwormer Feb. 2 and forcing her to drive him to Elkhart County, Indiana. He was arrested the next day in LaPorte County.
Prior to his escape, Elliot was serving a life sentence
Elliot will be in Ionia County Circuit Court 8 a.m. June 24 for a pre-trial hearing.
At the time of his escape Elliot was serving a life sentence for the August 1993 murders of four people in Gladwin County.
