GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — (June 4, 2014) Each day hundreds of runners run through the streets of Downtown Grand Rapids but now you’ll be able to take your run and get in some history as well.
Grand Rapids Running Tours launched this spring and aims to combine the history of the city with a nice run around some of the city’s most beautiful landmarks.
Caroline Cook founded Grand Rapids Running Tours, an avid runner herself she saw the need for guided tours through the city and thought that providing some history would make the run even more fun.
So Caroline put together some of her favorite routes, started studying the history of the city and became a running ambassador. This spring the JW Marriott teamed up with Caroline to provide a meeting place and Grand Rapids Running Tours was off and running.
The tours have many themes, from history of popular landmarks, to an art tour and even a “steeple chase” that tours the city’s largest churches. The runs range from 5k to 10k but Caroline can tailor a run for anyone’s needs and interests.
