OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. (May 21, 2014) — Eight cows that belonged to an Olive Township farmer were killed during a storm Wednesday morning, according to the Grand Rapids Press.
The Press says that neighbors reported the cows were standing under a tree that was struck by lightning.
One of those neighbors, according to The Press, alerted the farmer that eight of his cows were lying lifeless on the ground.
FOX 17 stopped by the farm on 136th Ave. at about 4 p.m. The cows hadn’t been removed.
The tree was split down the center and had also damaged a nearby camper.
The farmer was not available for comment.
