Oven Fire Does $350k in Damage to Local Bakery

KENTWOOD, Mich. (May 19, 2014) — The Kentwood Fire Department responded to a fire at Roskam Bakery early Monday morning, that ended up doing more than a quarter-million dollars in damage.

Officials say there were heavy flames coming from all of the doors in the conveyor-type oven.  Damage estimates are in excess of $350,000.

One employee suffered minor smoke inhalation, but did not require any treatment.
