KALAMAZOO, Mich. (May 16, 2014) — Thousands of people were without power early Friday morning after, police say, a raccoon got into a substation and caused a small fire.

The outage occurred just northeast of the I-94 and U.S. 131 interchange.  Over 3,600 Consumers Energy customers were left in the dark.  Power was estimated to come back at any time.

The raccoon, unfortunately, did not survive.
