GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (March, 15, 2014) — “Irish on Ionia” ringleader, Garry Boyd told FOX 17 that organizers were hoping to attract between 14,000-20,000 people on Saturday.
Organizers expanded this year, adding a new block to provide more room for party-goers.
They also added a second music stage. One featuring local D.J’s, and another featuring Irish music.
The event also had a number of new outside vendors.
“Today we`re hosting Irish on Ionia downtown. It`s the largest St. Patrick`s Day festival. It`s not really St. Patrick`s Day, but to us it is. The weather is great. There`s a bunch of people down here. We`ve got two stages, lots of stuff. There`s a lot of fun stuff going on,” said Boyd.
Organizers also added a second stage for more live entertainment.
