Montcalm-County-Sheriff-OfficeREYNOLDS TWP.,  Mich (March 10, 2014) — A man tried to abduct an 8-year-old girl along Amy School and Almy roads and by telling her that a relative was in the hospital.

According to the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Department, the girl, who is from Howard City, was walking to a friend’s house at 3 p.m. on March 9, when the suspect approached her, saying that her aunt was in the hospital and to “get in”.

Police say the girl refused and continued to her friend’s house, while the man left southbound from that intersection.

The suspect is described as heavy set, in his late twenties or early thirties, and bald with a beard. He was last seen wearing a black tank top with a camouflage zip-up hooded sweatshirt. It’s believed he was driving a newer full-sized red pick up with a standard cab that’s possibly a Ford.

The girl wasn’t hurt and the Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
