MASON COUNTY, Mich. (February 21,2014) Friday wrapped up the first week of Eric Knysz’s murder trial. There were several pieces of evidence introduced in the third day of testimony, as prosecutors work to seek justice for Trooper Paul Butterfield.
The day began with testimony from forensic investigators who introduced DNA found at different scenes following the shooting, including a napkin and blood found on the pick up truck police say Eric was driving. A firearm expert also testified about linking the shell casing found after the shooting to the .357 magnum found on Knysz during his arrest.
But some of the most compelling evidence the prosecution brought to the table Friday, was an audio recording of an interview between Eric Knysz and investigators at the hospital hours after the deadly shooting.
In that interview Eric Knysz confessed to police that he shot Trooper Butterfield once and then drove off.
