GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Feb. 17, 2014) — Tax season is underway and volunteers want to make the process go as smooth as possible.
The United Way’s Kent County Tax Credit Coalition (KCTCC) is offering free tax services and financial literacy courses for individuals and families. The free tax service is available for those with household incomes at $55,000 or less. You do not need to have a job to take advantage of the service.
Since 2002, KCTCC has generated almost $61.5 million in tax credits for over 50,000 tax payers in our community.
With the Earned Income Tax Credit, working families are eligible for tax reimbursements of up to $6,044. Tax clients often spend these tax refunds locally for basic necessities such as food and clothing, home and car repairs, or medical treatment.
