ROSS TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Two suspected burglars were taken into custody early Monday morning after being found in a car near the crime scene.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department said the suspects broke into a home in the 8500 block of North 40th Street in Ross Township. That is on the southeast side of Gull Lake.

They were called there when a homeowner returned to his house and discovered it had been broken into earlier.  The homeowner also spotted an unknown vehicle parked near the house.

A Kalamazoo Township officer found the suspicious vehicle, then saw the men trying to get away.   Both were taken into police custody.

Investigators said they found items from the house inside the car, plus burglar tools an illegal weapon and drugs.

The names of the suspects have not been released because they haven’t been arraigned.
