Heavy, Wet Snow Starts Work Week

Posted

WEST MICHIGAN — (February 16, 2014) A round of light snow will come to an end Sunday morning. Accumulations should be less than a half-inch as snow comes to an end by noon-time and skies begin to slightly clear.

Winds will switch to the south tonight funneling in warmer and more moist air ahead of our next system, which moves in Monday afternoon bringing snow chances.

Temperatures are looking slightly cooler allowing for all of the precipitation to fall as snow. Temperatures will be slightly closer to freezing making this snow a heavy, wet snow. The heavy, wet snow will have a high liquid content, which will lessen snow totals slightly.

Snow will continue through the day on Monday and into Monday evening. All of West Michigan has the opportunity to see snow fall between 2 to 5 inches by Tuesday morning. Some areas in the north that see cooler temperatures could see an isolated snow total in excess of 5 inches but most of West Michigan should remain around the 3 to 4 inch mark.

Snow comes to an end late Monday and early Tuesday and temperatures begin a warming trend as sunshine returns through mid-week.
