GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Feb. 12, 2014) — Greg Sundstrom, Grand Rapids city manager, said the police and fire department expressed concern to him over streets in the city that have become narrow due to snow. First responders need to be able to navigate the streets as quickly and safely as possible.
So the city plans to plow a portion of the West Grand neighborhood on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The East Hills and Eastown Area will be plowed on Friday during the same time period, according to Sundstrom.
“It’s not for convenience, it’s not for aesthetics, it’s strictly to make sure we can get an emergency vehicle to each, and every property and business in this community,” Sundstrom explained.
Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., streets in the West Grand neighborhood to be plowed are as follows:
Stocking Ave/Walker Ave connecting to Lincoln and I-196 which borders the area to the south
Friday, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., streets in the East Hills and Eastown neighborhoods to be plowed are as follows:
Diamond Avenue to Woodmere and Hermitage to Wealthy
