WEST MICHIGAN — Heavy snow has moved into Eastern Michigan this afternoon as the Winter Storm moves through the Great Lakes. A warm front has set-up along the Michigan border allowing for some rain to mix in as temperatures are in the lower 30’s and upper 20’s. As of noon, areas in Hillsdale County were reporting rain making for a mess on snow-covered roads. Light rain has also been reported in Berrien County as the light snow slightly melts as it hits the surface.
Winds will eventually turn northerly in late afternoon allowing for cooler temperatures to move in, transitioning all leftover precipitation into light snow. Light snow will eventually come to an end later tonight as the Winter Storm moves east and high pressure moves in. An additional 1 to 3 inches will be possible through the late afternoon and early evening.
As high pressure moves in Sunday and Monday the weather will turn quiet however we will be keeping our eye on another system that will likely move through late Tuesday and Wednesday which has the potential to bring accumulating snow back into West Michigan. We will continue to keep you updated on the potential for more snow as we head into the next work week.
