CASS COUNTY, Mich. — If you are planning on hitting the road in Cass County on Monday, but do not have a good reason for doing so, you may run the risk of being ticketed.
On Monday morning, county officials declared a snow emergency, and the sheriff’s office has warned that all non-essential/non-emergency travel may be ticketed if they deem it necessary. All residents are being urged to stay off of the roads.
“Weather conditions have caused a direct threat to life and property for not only the residences, but responders and public works agencies as well,” stated an alert message from the county’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division. “As a result of this situation, the following conditions exist: whiteout conditions, vehicle road slide offs accidents, and vehicles stuck in roadways making clearing of roads very difficult for the Cass County Road Commission.”
The local snow emergency will be lifted once conditions return to a manageable level.
