GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A teenager charged with the December 2012 killing of his half-brother, an army reservist,has been found guilty .
Royale Runyon was found guilty of second degree murder and felony firearms. Police say he shot and killed 20-year-old Madhi Hayes in an alley near Warden Street and Henry Street in Grand Rapids December 2012.
The 20-year-old member of the Army was found was shot to death in an alley south of Worden St and east of Henry Ave. at 3:00am on December 20th, 2012.
The day after Hayes’ death, Runyon was arrested on an unrelated robbery charge.
Police say it took awhile to connect him to the crime even though he was considered a suspect from the beginning.
Runyon should be back in court on February 4th.
