KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Robert McCombs, one of the two men arrested in connection with a December murder in Kent County, was arrested again this week for lying to police, court records show.

McCombs, 63, and 38-year-old Roger Musick were arrested Dec. 20 in connection with the death of Steven Day, but were later released.

Day, 54, was found dead in the snow Dec. 18 along 16 Mile Road NE near Myers Lake Avenue.  Investigators believe he was strangled.

McCombs is currently in the Kent County jail on a $250,000 bond.  He was charged in Grand Rapids District Court Monday with lying to police in a violent crime investigation and being a habitual offender.

Court records show that Kent County Sheriff’s Department believe he lied about the homicide investigation.  The records also show that McCombs fled to Tennessee after being interviewed about the crime.
