PARK TWP., Mich.- Neighbors are identifying the man found buried under the snow Monday night as Jose Hernandez, 38.

Hernandez’s body was discovered in the Amberwood Apartment’s parking lot next to his running car.  Police are considering his death suspicious due to “unexplained head trauma.”

Family alerted police when Hernandez didn’t show up for work and hadn’t been seen for a day.

Neighbor Kellie Scholten says she awoke Tuesday morning to police and forensic crews outside her apartment.

Scholten says she saw Hernandez’s car running on Monday, but just thought it was being warmed up in these bitter cold temperatures.

Captain Mark Bennett of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department says he believes that car had been running for 24 hours before the body was found.

Scholten said her two kids play outside where the body was found all the time, she’s just glad they weren’t the ones to find Hernandez.

Now, Scholten and her neighbors have one major question, “Did he really slip and fall or did somebody come up to him and hit him?” she asked.

An autopsy has been completed but police are not releasing the results.

Captain Bennett says they’re continuing to put the timelines together and talking with those who last spoke or text him.

Anyone who may have seen or heard anything at Amberwood Apartments Sunday night is asked to call the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department at (616) 738-4000 or Silent Observer (877) 88-SILENT.
