COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. – Black smoke could be seen rising from the Fifth Third Ballpark field Friday morning.
Witnesses tell FOX 17 smoke could be seen from the suites on the first base side of the field.
Thirty employees were inside the ballpark at the time of the fire. All of them made it out safely.
Sources tell FOX 17 that water was shut off to the ballpark in the winter, possibly causing the sprinkler systems to malfunction.
We will bring you more information on the investigation into the fire’s cause coming up on FOX 17 News at 5 and 6.
