MARNE, Mich. — Multiple crews were dispatched to a church in Marne Thursday night after reports that there was a fire.
The fire was reported at 9:21 p.m. at Berlin Baptist Church, 1519 Jackson St.
Initial reports from residents near the church cited heavy smoke coming from the building, but no visible flames. Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department said the fire turned out to be a burning barrel nearby and the church was not affected.
