JACKSON, Mich. – Last weekend’s worst ice storm in 10 years to hit the state is still taking its toll on tens of thousands of people in West Michigan.
According to the Consumers Energy website at 10:15am Thursday, there were 88,000 of its customers across Michigan without electric. Most of the outages are in Genesee, Shiawassee, Ingham, Eaton and Barry Counties.
In Barry County, 40 percent of the homes, or 11,000 Consumers Energy customers, were without power as of Thursday morning. Many locations across Barry County are not expected to have power restored until late Saturday night, according to the Consumers Energy Outage Map.
