JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, Mich.- The Cass County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a deadly traffic crash.
The one vehicle crash happened Saturday around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Calvin Hill St. and North Shore Dr.
Police identified the victim as David M. Wegner, 52, of Goshen, Ind.
Police say Wenger was traveling westbound on Calvin Hill St. when he failed to negotiate a curve near the intersection at North Shore Dr., leaving the roadway and striking a tree before landing in a ravine.
Wegner was wearing his seatbelt. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor but police say there was heavy fog at the time of the accident.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Penn Twp. Fire Dept., Lifecare Ambulance Service and the Ontwa Twp. Edwardsburg Police Dept.
The accident remains under investigation.
