West Michigan Hunter Bags Massive Buck

DECATUR, Mich.,–  A West Michigan man bagged the buck of a lifetime this season.

Jeff Toy scored this massive buck Monday night near Decatur. Toy says he went out hunting to his small piece of property with the intention of just bringing his father and cousin out to hunt.

As he was watching them from across the field, he says he was just sitting on a bucket with his gun and a few shells, when the buck came within a couple hundred yards of him. There’s no word on his official stats, but Toy says he weighed him at around 235 pounds and rough estimates from the processor put his antler range pushing 200 inches. Toy said that is an absolute rough estimate and he didn’t want to speculate anymore, he says he has to wait 60 days before it can officially be measured.

He says it still hasn’t sunk in the magnitude of just how big the buck is but it’s a reminder of what hunting is all about.

“You can spend all the money in the world on gizmos and gadgets things that you need but you know getting back to old school basics, that it happened that way it just goes to show hunting is 100 percent of the right place at the right time,” said Toy.
