GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– One West Michigan businessman wants to give back to veterans.
Joe McCormick helped start the Mid-Michigan Honor Flight Association. The honor fight will take veterans to the war memorials in Washington D.C. The first trip is tentatively set for June, 2014.
McCormick is looking for veterans to start registeringnow, as well as donors to help fund the flights and volunteers who will travel with the veterans.
He hopes to fill a Boeing 747 with as many as 80 vets.
“What we’re trying to do is provide a final tour for these guys, just to really tell them how precious they are and how much we appreciate what they did,” said McCormick.
