KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Several accidents forced police to temporarily shut down some bridges over I-94 Friday morning, after lingering moisture from lake-effect snow showers froze to the pavement overnight.
In the Kalamazoo area, bridges on Sprinkle and Kilgore Roads were closed in order for crews to treat the roads with salt. Those bridges were back open by around 8:00 A.M. Friday.
Areas south of Grand Rapids picked up the large majority of the lake-effect showers Thursday night, with the main band leaving some briefly heavy snow from southern Ottawa County through parts of Allegan and Barry counties as well. Those locations saw isolated snow amounts of an inch or more on grassy surfaces.
Elsewhere, only a light coating of snow was reported in southern portions of the FOX 17 viewing area.
Snow showers ended quickly overnight, and no additional snow is expected Friday.
