SPENCER TWP, Mich.- Danielle Scholten-Linderman, 29, is dead and police say 51-year-old Scott Hammer, her boyfriend, is responsible.
Police say it happened Wednesday morning after a struggle between the couple.
They say after he murdered the mother of two, Hammer burned down an old farmhouse the two were renovating.
Investigators say the murder happened near Lincoln Lake Rd and 17 mile in Spencer Twp. in Kent County. The fire happened at the farmhouse in Sidney Township in Montcalm County.
Hammer was taken into custody and will be charged with his girlfriend’s murder in Kent County. Formal charges are expected Thursday morning.
Matthew McQuay saw Wednesday morning’s fire.
“I was taking my wife to work about 7:15 a.m., and the road was nothing but fire trucks with smoke and flame so I figured it was Scott around the corner,” McQuay said.
He says he knew Hammer from working near his farmhouse the past month and never imagined he would do something like this.
Friends say they believe the crime was fueled by passion. They say Danielle was always chipper and worked at Drake’s Place in Greenville. They tell us she has two children.
