MUSKEGON, Mich. — If you notice a lot of police, fire units, and other emergency personnel at the Mercy Health General Campus on Friday, don’t be alarmed.
It’s all part of a mock exercise for training on how to deal with an “active shooter” scene.
Michigan Homeland Security Region 6 is hosting a full-scale Active Shooter Exercise between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p,m, at the Mercy campus at 1700 Oak Avenue in Muskegon.
An active shooter scenario will be created to focus on the best practices for police, fire, ambulance and hospital workers.
The exercise was made possible through a grant from Homeland Security and the Healthcare Preparedness Program.
