BARRY COUNTY,Mich. — A judge on October 3 sentenced former Major League Baseball player Chad Curtis to the maximum possible sentence under the law.
Curtis will spend 85-180 months in prison.
Curtis was found guilty in August of sexually assaulting three teenage girls at Lakewood High School in Barry County. He was charged on 6 counts of criminal sexual conduct, specifically one count of third degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct, and three counts second degree of criminal sexual conduct.
Curtis was a substitute teacher and volunteer strength trainer.
At his sentencing, he denied all charges of criminal sexual misconduct. In a rambling statement, Curtis listed his positive works and his plans for writing a book in collaboration with one of the victims. The judge told him that was a bad idea.
