PAW PAW, Mich.- One suspect is in custody after police said he stabbed a Kalamazoo man to death.
Chief Eric Marshall with the Paw Paw Police Department said Trey Yarbrough, 20, of Kalamazoo called 911 asking for help just before midnight on Tuesday.
The call brought police to the Marathon Gas station located at W. Michigan Avenue and Hazen Street. There, they found Marshall bleeding from multiple stab wounds, barely hanging onto consciousness.
Yarbrough was transferred to a nearby hospital where he died from his wounds.
The suspect, Chief Marshall said, was taken into custody after police found him in a Battle Creek parking lot.
The incident began, police said, at the Lake Side Inn. According to Chief Marshall, the motel is where Yarbrough was stabbed, the victim he said, then drove to the gas station to call for help.
Police said the case could be drug related.
The suspect’s name has not been released. He is expected to be charged tomorrow morning.
