MINNEAPOLIS — For the first time in over a century, the Detroit Tigers will be making their third straight postseason appearance.

The Tigers defeated the Minnesota Twins 4-2 Tuesday night to clinch an AL wild card spot. Detroit’s magic number to clinch its third straight AL Central division title is now one. The Tigers have one more game left in Minnesota before heading to Miami for a three-game interleague series against the Marlins.

This season will mark the third straight that the Tigers have reached the postseason. The only other time the Tigers went to three straight postseasons was from 1907-1909.

Tigers manager Jim Leyland is now the first manager in franchise history to lead the Tigers to four different postseasons (06, 11, 12, 13).
