GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Rep. Justin Amash is apparently not running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Carl Levin.
The congressman, as well known for his use of social media as for his libertarian politics, retweeted a Twitter post from the National Journal that linked to an article that quoted sources saying Amash is not running for the Senate.
The online article quoted “several sources familiar with the congressman’s decision.”
An email to the congressman’s reelection campaign seeking confirmation was unanswered as of this post. Amash’s Grand Rapids legislative office declined comment and directed FOX 17 to the campaign office.
On September 17, Rep. Amash mounted an online “Constitution Day Money Bomb” fund raising campaign, ostensibly to support the representative’s re-election campaign. Amash is in his second term and faces re-election in 2014.
