Driver Escapes Police; Crashes Vehicle; Driver Found In The Woods After Search

MSP Michigan State Police file photo generic dayLYONS, Mich- A person is in the hospital Saturday after crashing their vehicle in rural Ionia County. According to the Michigan State Police, a Trooper from the Lakeview Post witness a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The Trooper tried to stop the vehicle but the vehicle took off.

The Trooper terminated his pursuit after they lost sight of the vehicle. When the Trooper searched the area for the vehicle, they found it near the intersection of Plains St. and Superior St. in Muir. There was no one in or near the vehicle.

A Michigan State Police Canine was called in to search the area. The driver was then located by the canine in a wooded area lying down.

The driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

It is unknown if alcohol or seat belt usage were factors in this crash. The incident remains under investigation.
