LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan House voted 72-36 Tuesday for the first increase in hunting and fishing license fees since 1997.
That vote was the final approval for House Bill 4668 before it heads to Gov. Rick Snyder’s desk. The bill establishes a $10 base resident hunting license and charges additional for specific animals. This more than doubles the cost for a deer license from $15 to $30 for most Michigan residents because the deer license costs $20. Fees for waterfowl and turkey are $12 and $15, respectively.
If signed by Snyder, the bill would take effect March 2014.
