HASTINGS, Mich. — Harold Ordway was sentenced Wednesday to between 20 and 50 years in prison for the murder of one of two former roommates he admitted to killing in 2011.
Ordway, 44, admitted to killing Paul Atchley and Michael VanBuskirk in September 2011. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Atchley’s death in June and is also awaiting sentencing on federal firearms charges.
Though he admitted to killing VanBuskirk, he was not charged with that murder as a condition of the plea. He was found with a bloody mattress and rifle in the bed of his pickup truck after a car crash on M-89 near Plainwell.
VanBuskirk’s remains were discovered in a Kalamazoo County field, though Atchley’s body has not yet been recovered. Ordway must also help investigators locate those remains as part of his plea.
