Suspicious Man Runs From Police: Prison Put On Lockdown

Posted

prison command centerIONIA COUNTY, Mich. — Around 11 a.m. Tuesday September 3,  an off–duty corrections officer noticed a heavy white male, between 5’10” and 6 feet, wearing an orange vest and what was thought to be an orange tied-off jump suit, in the area along M-21 and Potter Street near Bellamy Creek Prison in Ionia County, according to Michigan State Police Lt. Brody Boucher.

The Department of Corrections attempted to contact the man and he ran, according to Lt. Boucher. While a head count was done on all three prison buildings, K-9 units scoured a roughly 2 mile area west of the facilities and a chopper took to the sky. After about an hour, authorities confirmed that they had accounted for all inmates. It was still unknown why the man ran from police.
