WYOMING, Mich. — The classic and antique cars will be able to cruise on 28th Street in all lanes.
People looking forward to watching driving in the annual event have wondered for weeks if two major construction projects on 28th Street would jam up the works, but the Michigan Department of Transportation was on it. MDOT is responsible for maintenance of the artery because it’s state highway M-11 from I-96 in Cascade Township to Grandville.
The reconstruction of the intersection at Clyde Park Avenue in Wyoming, while still incomplete, has been suspended through the Metro Cruise weekend. Work on the intersection and the accompanying lane closures and traffic shifts will return at a later date.
Finishing work on 28th Street between Patterson Avenue and I-96 will keep the right lane closed eastbound until 4 p.m. Friday. Then, all lanes will be open through the weekend. Lane closures are expected to return next week.
