Decorated Motor Carrier Officer Involved in Off-Duty Crash

Myers, Dennis 400 x 400DECATUR,Mich. —  The Michigan State Police is investigating the off-duty crash of Motor Carrier Officer Dennis Myers.  The crash occurred on August 19 around 11:30 PM on CR 352 near Delta Drive, just west of the Village of Decatur.

Officer Myers was westbound on CR 352 when the tires of his Honda Civic dropped onto the right shoulder of the roadway, crossed the centerline and left the roadway on the left shoulder before overturning.  Myers was in cardiac arrest at the scene.  Emergency medical personnel were able to reestablish a pulse at the scene prior to transporting Officer Myers to Bronson Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Officer Myers was recognized for his outstanding achievements in 2010 when he was honored as the Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Officer of the Year.  The award, sponsored by the Michigan Trucking Association, recognizes the MSP Motor Carrier Officer who symbolizes outstanding professional ethics, dedication to duty and concern for giving back to his/her community.  Officer Myers joined the department in 2001, and was first assigned to the Bridgman Post.  He transferred to the Paw Paw Post in 2007, where he currently serves.
