WEST MICHIGAN — (FOX 17) — In theory, the hottest part of the summer is over. As of Thursday, the normal (average) temperatures start to drop. They will continue to fall until January.
For the past several days, the normal high has been 83 degrees, and the normal low has been 62 degrees. Starting Thursday, the normal high drops to 82 degrees. The normal low doesn’t start falling until the middle of August. For those people who like warm weather, there’s no need to panic. The drop in normal temperatures is very slow at first. In fact, by the end of August, the normal high is still 78 degrees, and the normal low is 58 degrees. Our lowest normal temperatures are a high of 30 degrees and a low of 18 degrees in January.
This image shows high temperatures Wednesday in West Michigan. Grand Rapids’ high temperature of 75 degrees is more typical of early September and not the middle of summer.
