IONIA COUNTY, Mich. — Daniel and Nicole Dines were charged with larceny less than $200 Tuesday after allegedly stealing iron from the recently burned down Whites Bridge July 9.
Both suspects were arraigned in Ionia 64th District Court at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 23. They allegedly loaded more than 200 pounds of scrap iron from the bridge into their pickup truck. John Piercefiled, owner of Portland Metal and Iron, says that the cost of iron is pretty low and the couple probably would have only gotten around $20 for their haul.
The Whites Bridge burned down July 7, and until then was Michigan’s oldest standing covered bridge.
