AUSTIN,TX. — Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Kalamazoo is pleased to announce that it will open in October 2013. The theater will be located at 180 Portage Street in the heart of Kalamazoo.
Alamo Drafthouse Kalamazoo will feature ten screens of new releases, repertory programming and the Alamo’s unique signature programming with seating for 900 moviegoers.
“We are very excited to complete renovations on Alamo Drafthouse Kalamazoo and introduce ourselves to the neighborhood,” says Drafthouse founder and CEO Tim League. “In the meantime, I will be doing the tough research of sampling from the incredible Western Michigan brewing scene in order to help build our local beer menu.”
Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas are unique from other theaters by providing a combination of theater and restaurant all under one roof. Alamo Drafthouse features new release movies, independent films and special programming events, served up with an extensive made-from-scratch menu. Customers can also expect seasonal menu specials that highlight local growers and a wide selection of local beers.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the pre-show entertainment. Instead of advertisements, the Alamo screens curated programs of rare and humorous clips themed to the film. Additionally, Alamo Drafthouse protects the theater going experience with a zero tolerance policy for people who disrupt the film with talking or texting. The Alamo also offers online reserved seating in all auditoriums so that you can avoid lines at the theater and always choose your favorite seat.
The theater is expected to open in October 2013.
