Can Your Family Survive a Military Boot Camp Challenge?

BELMONT, Mich.- There will be no air-conditioning, comfy beds or running to the refrigerator for a midnight snack. The Wolverine Worldwide Family YMCA in Belmont is putting adults and families up to a Military Boot Camp Challenge the weekend of July 26.

Missions for this two-day challenge, held on the property of the YMCA in Belmont, will be physically and mentally challenging: fitness tests, map reading, land navigation, rescue skills, challenge course and wall climbs. Basically, you will experience a taste of what it’s like to be in the military and will be led by real military leaders.

The adult challenge runs from July 26-27th from 6p.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $80 for YMCA members and $100 for non-members. The registration deadline for all participants is July 20.

There is also a family challenge that runs from 3p.m. on July 27 through 10 a.m. on July 28. The cost for a YMCA family is $160 and $200 for non-members. Children ages 10 to 16 yrs. must be accompanied by a parent.

Military style meals will be provided and those who complete the challenge will receive a t-shirt.

Items you will need include:

  • Sleeping bags/blankets
  • Shoes/boots
  • Extra clothing
  • Bug Spray
  • Sun Block
  • Shower supplies
  • Toothbrush/paste
  • Hat
  • Bag or collapsible chair
  • 2 camp snacks to share
