MUSKEGON, Mich. — Residents watched, stunned, as a man opened fire in broad daylight in a Muskegon neighborhood.

Witnesses said it happened Monday morning at around 11 a.m. while children were playing outside in the 1000 block of Kenneth Street.

The alleged target was Wesley Burbridge, 47.

“I thought I watched, and the kids watched, their friend die right in front of them,” said Ryan Tenbrink, Wesley’s neighbor.

Witnesses said that the shooter parked across the street, ran to the corner near Wesley’s house, and circled around a crowd of people until he got to the corner, hiding the gun with his body.

Then, they say, he opened fire on Wesley.

Fortunately nobody was hit in the shooting, including Wesley.

Police say the suspect in the crime is Adrain Taylor Wayne, 33. He had allegedly gotten into an altercation with Wesley about three months ago.

A motorcycle, ironically named after a shooting victim`s grandmother, “Mattie B,” could hold the key to a conviction for the crime. A bullet went into the tailpipe and preserved the important clue.

“I just happened to look at my pipes and it looked like a reflection,” said Paul Burbridge. What he saw was a .45 caliber bullet hole in the exhaust pipe.

Muskegon police are asking that if you have any information on where Adrain Wayne, to contact Muskegon Police at 231-724-6750 or the Silent Observer program at 231-722-7463.
